Hi Jeff,

Thanks for checking out our blog!

You could clone your staged site back over to where your live site sits. However, the important thing to remember when cloning a live site to a staging area is that you are taking a copy of the site at that exact moment in time.

So, if you later replace your live site with a clone of the staging site, it's going to override everything in your live site directory. This means that any additional content (posts, images, forum threads, etc) that have been added to the live site while you worked on the staging site, will no longer be there.

This will come in handy when Joomla 2.5 version comes out and I want to test.

Question: How to do I take my "staged" site, to take the place of my live site?

This is an excellent tool that works well and quickly. I restored an entire site in a couple of minutes. I still take backups myself but it is great to know that this is available.

Hi Kelvin,

Thank you for the suggestion. We've left uninstall out of the features to eliminate the possibility of people wiping out sites that they want to keep. If we get a large amount of requests for it though, it may be a feature we can look at adding in the future.

Basically to uninstall a site that you don't want to keep you can just delete the Joomla files through ftp or your file manager (found in cPanel) and then delete the database.

I really appreciate the explanation. this makes installation very simple to do. It's almost like setting up a wordpress blog.

Unfortunately, no, the plugin does not perform migrations between different Joomla versions. As Chris mentioned in his earlier comment, this is a limitation of Joomla itself. For documentation about migrating your website from Joomla version 1.0.x to 1.5.x you may find the following useful: http://docs.joomla.org/Migrating_from_1.0.x_to_1.5_Stable
